The Ride
Fell country meets the coast on this one — the western Lakes see a fraction of the traffic of the honeypot valleys, and the roads reward it: long, flowing climbs, a couple of proper hairpin descents, and a stretch of coast road with the sea close enough to smell the salt. We’ll stop at a harbour café that knows how to do a bacon roll, then work back inland through quiet wooded valleys most riders never find on their own. Less famous than the high passes, every bit as good.
